Improved design method for interaction buckling resistance of welded box-section columns

چکیده

The current paper studies the global and local interaction behaviour of box-section columns using numerical simulations by creating a model analysing their buckling resistances to pure compression. developed uses combination imperfections as well residual stresses, which are key parameters resistance calculation. unique approach in is that all previous applied safe sided imperfections, while this research applies improved for provided authors work. This geometric imperfection verified determine analyse develop an design calculation method. Based on accurate simulation results, analytical following methodology Eurocode has been proposed application. A comparison made with available methods found international literature showing achieved improvements.

The linear, parabolic and sinusoidal tapers are considered in numerical examples.
